Chapter 7

Though you heap up money and plead,
“Let me serve the Kami,“
the Goyō (the Kami’s service) cannot be done
by any but those with Innen (the karmic bond).
Those who do the service —
however bitter the toil, the heart grows bold.

This Kami does not heal small sicknesses,
nor ape the anma (the masseur).
The great sickness — that is what this Kami shall heal.

The Kami opens the way;
seek not to drag men in after your own mind.
